The US state of Arizona added a new rule for early release from prison, and the computer system that calculates release dates could not incorporate it and was not updated. So hundreds of people have just been... left in prison, after their due release dates. Now that people are getting concerned about 'AI Ethics' and 'AI Bias', it's worth remembering that you don't need machine learning to ruin lives with bad software.

This paper explores Project Orion and the reasons behind its ultimate demise. In the late 1950s, the physicists behind Project Orion envisioned a starship propelled by exploding nuclear bombs behind it. Their schedule had them visiting Mars by 1965 and Saturn by 1970.
